Welcome to East End Jazz

Jazz is our American heritage – a culture, an art form, and a tradition. East End Jazz, a woman-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, cultivates a love for jazz through a wide range of learning opportunities. Our skill-building workshops and creative exploration programs empower and inspire participants of all ages on the East End of Long Island and New York City.

Mission

East End Jazz is dedicated to educating, entertaining, and inspiring a community of children, parents, students, teachers and audience members through live jazz performance and education. We believe that the original American music form of jazz is a powerful medium for bringing people together and fostering creativity and self-expression. We are committed to closing the gap in music education by providing year-round musical, educational, and cultural programs to schools, community centers, organizations, corporations and families from diverse backgrounds.

Saturday December 6th at 7:30PM: Holiday Songs Around the World: A Global Musical Celebration 

This special concert “Holiday Songs Around the World” by East End Jazz, promises to be a delightful journey through the diverse holiday and winter traditions of the world, all interpreted through the captivating lens of jazz.

​

The program will transport you with a selection of holiday songs that highlight the cultural richness of different countries, moving beyond the familiar to explore some truly unique musical gems. The concert's global selections include songs like "He Xin Nian" (China's New Year's song), "Räven Raskar Över Isen" (from Sweden), "Talj, Talj" (from Lebanon), and "Ner Li" (from Israel). The performance will also feature classic and traditional pieces, such as the renowned Austrian carol "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht" (Silent Night), along with other timeless classics. Additionally, you will discover music tied to unique winter celebrations, including a piece for Japan's winter solstice, “Toji." Lo Wood, saxes, clarinet, flute, Taka Otomo piano, Iris Ornig bass, arrangements, Chris Benham drums plus special guest vocalists

​East End Jazz, in collaboration with the Southampton Cultural Center, is thrilled to announce the launch of a new monthly jazz jam session. The "East Meets West Jazz Jam Session" is a free event designed to bring musicians and music lovers together from across the community.​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Our East Meets West Jazz jam Session  features every first Sunday of the month a special performance to kick off the afternoon before leading into the open jam. All musicians and singers are welcome to sit in! Email us!

 

Sunday, December 7th from 2 to 5PM featuring Ludmilla Brazil Trio,  accompanied by Marcello Pimenta on guitar and John Ludlow on Saxophone and guests, has received tremendous reception performing in the New York area. Known for their exciting, high-energy performances, the trio carefully selects a repertoire that finds new meaning in the music of great composers.

A Community Event for Everyone

​

The "East Meets West Jazz Jam Session" is a free event with no admission charge and is open to the entire community. Musicians of all skill levels, vocalists, music lovers, jazz enthusiasts, families and friends are encouraged to attend. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet the local jazz community, listen to great music and get inspired to create and improvise.

East End Jazz partnered with the Bridgehampton Child Care Center, offering "Music, Movement & Jazz" workshops to summer campers and bringing them a fun-filled experience of creativity and improvisation.

East End Jazz is partnering with the Southampton Youth Bureau in Flanders to launch a weekly workshop for our youth starting in January 2025! Our program is dedicated to empowering young musicians by offering essential music education, workshops, and performance opportunities. Together, we will build stronger communities through the vibrant sounds of jazz, creativity, and improvisation. We are excited to create a dynamic and inclusive environment that will foster the growth of our young talents.
